Finding Flexible Work (or; Back to Work Mommy)

The kids are headed to school full time. Now mom is searching for flexible work hours. But what direction should she take?

When we had kids, my husband and I agreed that I would stay home with them until they were both in full time school. After that we’d find a way for me to have flexible work in order to be home when the kids finished school. It’s the way we both grew up and we wanted to share that experience with our children. It also frees up our weekends from becoming dominated by scheduled activities; since I’m able to take them to swim class or other such activities during the week. We’ve been doing this for over seven years now, mostly. I’ve written a few books, volunteered and had some part time work, but I still always have the flexibility to chauffeur, cook, clean, and play in between these other commitments.

September brings with it the first school year that both of our children will be in full time school, which means it’s time for me to consider what I want to be when I grow up. What will I do when the kids are at school all day?

Brainstorming is one of my favourite things to do, so this quest to find the perfect job with flexible work Mommy hours is exciting for me – at least the list part. But to actually nail down what the heck I’m going to do with my time is pretty daunting.

So I’m asking for your help. Thoughts? Tips? Love and support! If you’ve got it, I’ll take it.

Below are some of the ideas that I’ve had so far. Bonus points if I can find time to write.
